Newest Project

Image
I used a tutorial which can be found Freedom In Creating by Michelle Zindorf This was so fun to make! The original is absolutely stunning and I am more than pleased with how mine turned out! I couldn't have been more surprised to see the tutorial and find out how easy it was for such great results!! How fantastic!

Circle Challenge #2 - Think Pink

Image
Here is my entry for the Think Pink challenge! This challenge is especially exciting for me becasue I registered to walk in the 3-Day For The Cure in 2011!! How cool would it be to win a pink expression and/or the Pink Journey cartridge right now? lol Well, I used a digi stamp from Whimsie Doodles for the card front and used the colored pencil and Gamsol technique to color image. For the challenge we were to use: Pink, Ruffles, Scallops, Flourishes, Glitter and Jewels ( incorporate any 3 on your project) and at least 2 cricut cuts on our project to qualify. I used a scalloped circle from Mini Monograms Cartridge, The background on both the card front and inside were from Once Upon A Princess, and the awareness ribbon is from Designer's Calender. I used stickles glitter on the ribbon and pink gems on the circle behind it and black on the pink background inside card and pink throughout. Have I mentioned how super exciting this all is? lol LOVE IT!! How will I ever sleep tonight? lol

Gift stacks...bring it all together!

Image
So, I had the coordinating file folder notebook folios (made from file folders), and magnetic notepads. I added a handmade mini coaster book and made little gift stacks. Here is the finished gift stack! :) I will post some directions on the folio if anyone requests it, they are simple and I found a video tutorial on YouTube to do them myself! :) Thanks for looking! :)

Mini book made from altered coasters!

Image
I had 2 packs of coasters, there were 8 coasters per package. I cut 4 different colored pieces of 12x12 sold textured cardstock into 9 4x4 pieces, then rounded the corners with my crop-a-dile (i was able to do 4 pieces at a time! yay!). I embossed 1 piece of each color (per book) with my cuttlebug and 4 different folders. Then I used my ATG gun to adhere the cardstock pieces to the coasters. I used my Zutter Bind-It-All to punch the holes on each of the pages and then to bind the books as well! Added some ribbon and lace scraps to the bound coils and viola....a cute little mini book! :) I added a stamped image which I "stickled" for some interest. Let me know what you think! :) Josi

Michaels Clearance bins-50 cent deals!!

Image
I was at Michaels back in mid-September and found packs of pretty file folders, journals, and notpads w/a magnet on the back which all coordinated together, and then there were packs of 4x4 coaster with the corners rounded. I got them home and got to thinking I needed a thank you gift for two of my Gramma's friends who gave us VERY generous wedding gifts so, I had wanted to do something extra special for them, and then a gift for my Mom for her birthday! The coaster sets had 8 coasters per pack, i used 4 per book, so for $1.00, I made 4 books!! A quarter a piece, can't beat that!! lol Each pack of file folder had 4 tabbed folders floral on the outside and a solid color on the inside (one pack gold and the other pink). I made jr. legal pad folios out of them. So, for $1.00 I can make 8 folios, about 13 cents a peice, WOW!! lol I used a strip that was cut away making the folio to adhere to the top of the notebooks to coordinate them as well with the folio. I really love these pro

Circle Blog Challenge #1: Ooh, La La! French Manor!: Today, Yesterday, Tomorrow Layout for Cricut

Image
I used 2 cuts as masks for my distress inks, i love the possibilities of this technique!! I welded two border peices on my gypsy for border on left hand side, I love how that turned out!! I have never used my french manor cart until this project and I definitely went from being not very crazy about it to LOVING IT that fast!! Frame from sentimentals (pg 30 used layer peice and shadow peice), dress form (pg 62), eiffel tower and border (pg 68) from French Manor for masks, and flowers on blackout feature from george. The sentiment was self created in MS Word and printed on a clear overlay and placed between the 2 frame layers. I photocopied a page from my emily post ettiquette book (it talks about travel in europe and clothes in paris) Inked everything with tattered rose, tea dye, and walnut stain Distress Inks. I used two pearl lapel pins on the distressed book page. I used antiqued sticker brads for flower centers and on frame. Background was plain craft paper to begin with. I had sooo

My NEWEST crafty addiction...KNIFTY KNITTERS!!

Image
The night of the Cricut Imagine launch, I tuned into HSN to watch even though I really didn't intend to buy. I got so swept up in it that I put it in my cart and was about to pay....and said STOP!! lol I reluctantly deleted it from my cart but, decided to reward myslef with something else since they were having a 24 hr craft sale. The knifty knitter combo caught my eye...and I decided that these and the crop-a-dile corner cutter would be my reward. The combo pack came with all the round, and rectangle looms AND the flower and pom-pom looms, and about 4 hooks and a few yarn needles. What a great deal! These are so easy and FAST! I made my first project (a hat for me) in 4 hours that included the time I spent watching YouTube vids to get started (casting on) and finished (casting off)!! I made a child's scarf and hat combo last night (about 6 hours start to finish). FUN!! Here are some photos!

Where has the summer gone?

Image
Made with my new Spongebob cartridge and I think(?) the background shape is from Storybook?? Made using Create a Critter (love, love, LOVE this cartridge!!) used Mickey Font for the word and welded on my Gypsy!! Used Tie the Knot cartridge for both the bride and Groom boxes, I just LOVE how they turned out!! : ) Used a SVG and my SCAL for the gable box, unfortunately when I saved the file I didn't make a note as to who I got it from!! Boo! When I first started "collecting" SVG's I didn't realize the importance of making note of that details! The programs were made using a file I found on the internet...I was in such a crazed rush I didn't note where I got it from which isn't like me, I know better than that these days!! Wish I could give credit where credit is due! I liked the wording so much I used it verbatim! If you recognize it, let me know and I will happily give credit where credit is due!! I can hardly believe that I have to go back to school on Wed

Wedding Madness has officially ended!!

I got married on July 10th and have done nothing but craft for the showers, ceremony, and reception since March!! I did my own invites (which was the last time I posted - way back in April....eek!!), programs, favor boxes, floral swags for head table, and flowers for guest tables, card sets in boxes for prizes at the showers and for the hosts at each, and Thank you cards are getting finished up now and will be out by next week! Whew...now it's time to play catch up! First, I could KICK myself for not getting in on the Circle Charter membership and going to CHA in Chicago when I had the chance!!! A gift of an Imagine?? Oh, man...did I miss out!! lol Oh, well, I just couldn't fork over that money with my wedding looming!! lol I will save money in the long run since I won't pay for travel and hotel to get there!! lol Second, I joined weight watchers last April after we got our engagement pics from the photographer both my fiance and I were horrified! Its amazing how a picture

Pocket Fold invites

Image
My fiance and I are financing our own wedding on a shoestring budget. I wanted these type invites but, can't find anything for sale that is both affordable and nice looking. I was feeling intimidated by the prospect of designing on my gypsy but, today I had a lightbulb go off...i don't need my cricut at all for the folder. I did use it for 1 1/2" (bottom-black) and 1 1/4" (middle-red) circles and the 1.31" scallop circle monogram from Gypsy font (I think...maybe Tie the Knot-gypsy and carts are downstairs so can't check just now). Outer folder is 4" W x 12" L so can get 3 to a 12x12 page. Belly band is 1" W x 8'1/2" L. The writing inside is computer generated and i just folded a couple pieces of paper to stick in inner pocket to get the approx width for belly bands. i just have to look up sizes for small rsvp response envelopes so i know what size to make inserts. Thanks for looking!!

iLearn Shirt

Image
I am an older than "average" full-time student and stay at home mom, my fiance works full-time, goes to school full-time, and helps A LOT with the baby and the housework when I am at school or studying! We don't do daycare so sometimes we can get pretty frazzled! I thought this would be a fun shirt and a maybe it would be a reminder that it is all worthwhile (at least i hope! lol). Used freezer paper of course with the design flipped. I think I used Plantin on this one...not 100% sure? Used Black soft tulip paint for first 2 coats then did 2 thin coats of tulip clear glitter paint...the sparkle is sooo pretty against the black!! Wish you could see it in real life, the pics don't do the sparkle justice! lol

Retirement gift and card

Image
I made these for my fiance to bring to work to give to his buddy who is retiring after tonight. my fiance works in a hospital overnight and this guy was one of the few other men that work there now it's just Jay and 1 other guy and all the female nurses. He is pretty bummed that his coffee buddy is leaving! lol I designed all and cut using my gypsy! Used Plantin for wording on sucker boquet and squares for card, wild card font for wording on card, indie art for guitar, tags bags boxes and more nut cup cut for pot. suckers are stuck into styrofoam ball and wide silver shiny ribbon wrapped around the ball. I used thinner silver ribbon for bow. I did cut the bottom of the ball so it would be level and not tippy!! I love how it turned out and am sort of sad to see it go! lol

Hannah Montana-Girls Rock Step Stool

Image
This was sooo much fun to do! My daughter is almost ready to potty train and will need a stool to reach the sink to wash her hands and to get on the potty so I picked the stool up at M's and when I went to design it I thought I would do something that would appeal to her beyond her toddler years so, it might be a bit "grown up" for her now at 19 mos but, maybe not!? She got a guitar for christmas that is the same color as the stool so, she can sit on it to play that, too! lol Anyway....here's the pics! (oh by the way...I used spray paint for the pink and after i took the pics I sprayed a clear indoor/outdoor protective finish so it will be safe in the bathroom! lol)

Wordbook Using recycled cereal boxes

Image
I had so much fun making this book! It's awesome that while doing something that I love I am able to do some recyling/reusing, too! The cardboard from the cereal boxes cuts great with just the regular blade in my cricut!!! Can't wait to do some more!!!
